browsing windows networks through wifi (without FTP or other server)?

is there a way to use the Desire to browse through shared folders on my other computers on the network?
Currently i only found some FTP based apps, though that wont work on "foreign" networks. mostly windows based.

ideally i would like to be able to browse a addresses like

\\PC_Stabby\D_drive\Awesomestuff\anotherapp.apk
\\PC_Stabby\E_drive\andyetitmoves\superawesomeanim ation.mp4
\\PC_Stabby\C_drive\seriousbusiness\seriousdoc.doc

is there any app or method (that i might have overlooked) that can achieve this?

For Windows , the sharing protocol is Samba (SMB)

I use ES / EStrongs File Explorer, it's free and support SMB, it's developed by a Chinese guy.


For Apple Bonjour sharing protocol just look for "bonjour" on the market.


For Linux you should use SCP over SSH.

Just make sure your folders are shared on your pc

Anyone managed to connect to a windows share IP\Sharename with Domain\Username login with EStrongs?

I just connect directly to the NAS (so to the root IP, not a specific share name) with domain/user with ES and access all the shares from there.

Doesn't solve the problem for me ==> estrongs keeps saying "share not found or it takes too long to get folder list" (my translation).
