Gelacase - There response to $19.99 Shipping

Hey,

So i saw someones post this morning about the Gelaskins. Well i had a look into it (they look great btw) i went all the way to the checkout and found out the shipping to the UK was $19.99 (£13.75), i was like :eek: :eek: :eek: on top of the $14.99 (£10.30) thats £24. There shipping is supposed to be $6 to the UK. (screen shots below)



So i decided to email them about the problem this is there response:

'Hi Hugh,

Thank you for your email! The larger items can only be sent via UPS. May I ask which items you are trying to purchase?'


I replied saying

'I'm just trying to buy the HTC desire skin. Don't think that's too big.'

Hi Hugh,

It's a little larger than the other phones. Just large enough not to fit the "standard post" requirements outlined by Canada Post unfortunately. If you wait a few weeks, this is going going to be adjusted. We are almost at a resolution!

So maybe there just trying to make us pay for the new release, but i think that price is slightly extortionate. What do you think?

Yesterday it showed me $5,95 for the shipping to Slovakia, today it says $19,95. Wtf ?

BS, no way is this that much bigger than other devices. Besides $20 is too much even for a laptop skin...

I just checked the Nexus One and that one they can ship for $6. The Nexus One is the same size as the Desire. How is it possible they can ship the Nexus One but not the Desire. BS.

I have already sent them a message pointing that out, I will let you know what their answer is.

Wish http://www.decalgirl.com/ did them, there prices are significantly cheaper. Ive also been on to them and they say the phone's on their 'list'. Maybe if more people requested it, it would appear ^^

I thought the expensive shipping costs would apply only to laptop skins, it is ridiculous price for a mobile phone skin.

I was gonna get one of these, but I think, at that price, they can go stick their heads up a pig.

Is there not any 3rd party sellers for these? Should be cheaper shipping i guess, who nows.

This is the reply I received from GelacSkins today:

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your email! The Desire is actually slightly larger then the Nexus 1. It requires a larger package, and unfortunately exceeds the dimension requirements for Canada Post. It therefore must go with UPS, my apologies! We are hoping to have this issue rectified within the next few weeks. I hope that helps! Thank you again, Stephen. Have a great day!

So far an extra 1mm case width its and extra $14.00, I think I will give this a miss until the Canadian Mail relax their rules.........
