I tried the same thing, just changing the one registry key (threshold) from 31 to 0, and I can also say it made a huge difference for me as well. With this, and the new update, my phone no longer freezes and it works perfectly. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I have a little more testing to do and then I will putting out a CAB with all the fixes I apply that are related to making TouchResponse behave like I would expect it to. Expect something in the next 24 hours. In the mean time, you can always use a registry editor and apply the reg values yourself.

I'm dealing with job and a new baby so my time is short. =)
Thanks bro. I will wait for the cab since you know what fixes work and where to apply them. Thanks a lot for this fix.

Are you using the new ROM or the original? Ever since using the new ROM, the most I see is a slight hesitation, but I don't have to hit the Menu button anymore.

The numbers I used were just numbers I kept increasing. I have no idea what the max value is or could be.

I'm hoping tomorrow I'll have a chance to post the reset of the reg tweaks I used from HD2Tweaks that would be apart of the entire TouchResponse "package" that I've been working with.

Also, just in case someone wonders, don't ask for permission, TAKE PERMISSION to use this information however you want. You can say you figured it out and incorporate it into "My Awesome ROM". I really don't care. It's about getting things fixed we don't like, and making them better. I could care less who gets credit. I know for a fact that there are chef's and others out there that know a bazillion times more about this stuff then me. I just like know that I helped, if in fact it really does help.

Peace out!

I think the delay is from HTC Sense having to go through all the saved SMS messages for the active contact in order to get to the SMS that it highlights as the most recent SMS received. I typically delete all the SMSs from a contact once I have 20 in memory so that there is not a delay.

I have not had to press the menu button to get to the response input field as you mention, but I do have to click that area of the screen before I can start using SWYPE to text a reply.

As a side note, I think that HTC Sense SMS and/or SWYPE is one of the biggest culprits for freezing the phone. Once I increased the Storage Manager value in the registry and kept no more than 20 saved SMSs, the freezing has subsided. That's not to say that I would not love to see a real fix come from HTC, but I'm not having problems with the above workaround implemented.
