Default Sprint Plans for EVO ? Extra $20 per phone?

I have been with Sprint for 9 years.
Last week I went into the Sprint store to find out how much more I would pay to have the Evo on my account.
I have 5 phones on the account.

Last week the Sprint Rep said:
You need to switch…
- FROM: the Everything Messaging Plan $99 (+9.99 * 3 for the additional phones). Less the corporate discount.
- TO: the Everything Data Plan $129 (+19.99 * 3 for the additional phones). Less the corporate discount.
So, I said done deal. I am getting one.
Since they could not guarantee an Evo for me, I put down $50.00 at a local Radio Shack. I walked away happy as could be!

Today I went in to confirm the info I received last week. Here is what the Sprint Store rep now said:
Yes, you do need to switch from the the "Messaging Plan to the "Data Plan". HOWEVER, they also said that because a phone on the account is an EVO, Sprint has just added an extra "premium" $20.00 to the monthly rate. The more EVO phones on the account, the more "premium" $$ your would add. They said that this "plan change" just went into effect on Monday (5/17).

Finally, I got back to work and called Sprint Customer Service…
I explained what had just happened.
The Sprint Customer Service rep on the phone had not heard about this "plan change".
I then conferenced called in the Store Rep they chatted with out a conclusion on who was right.

The customer service rep will be calling me back at 5:00PM (PST) to confirm either way.

This is crazy and frustrating.
Anyone else hear about this "plan change" effective Monday (5/17)?

I have heard, that they're requiring an upgarded 4G data plan specifically for the the Evo, though I heard it was 10 dollars, though it could change for a family plan.....

I don't know man, i went to Best buy today to pre-order mine and ask about the extra 10 dollars (that's what i've read) charge for the 4g service and they said that i was fine with my plan and don't need anything else, ( i upgrade to the Everything Data Plan back on October 2009 with my 3 phones) so there's no extra charge for 4g. You should go to Best buy and ask, if they say the same, pay the 50 cocos and go cancel the other one in the other place.

It's an extra $10 a month per Evo. The rep is mistaken. Maybe they thought you wanted 2 evos.

Nope. Made it clear that I needed 1 Evo.
My wife is keeping her Rumor or maybe switching to my HTC Vogue until her contact is up.

1. The $10 extra per evo is true. No matter what, if you have one (4G area or not) you WILL have to pay the extra 10. this has been confirmed many many times.

2. It is only 19.99 per extra line on an everything data share plan if the extra phones need unlimited data. If not, it will only be 9.99 per extra line. So:

129.99 for Everything data share (less your corporate discount)
+ 9.99*3 for your 3 extra phones (if you keep them without data)
+ 10* # of Evo's.

I agree with you.
I had heard varying stories whether or not the $10 per Evo applied if you did not live in a 4G area. I can (reluctantly because we do not have 4G here in Sacramento) accept the $10. But was very surprised about $20 per Evo. The Sprint Store manager was adamant about that.

I am just waiting for a call back from Sprint Phone Customer rep... hopefully telling me that it is $10 per Evo and not $20.

Thanks...

I can confirm it's $10 Extra regardless of 4G, I happened to be in Best Buy the same time the Sprint regional manager was giving the BestBuy reps a briefing on the device. Since the $10 is for "Premium Data" not 4G and she was being very specific telling the reps to NEVER say it's for 4G but just "Premium Data" interestingly enough, even though I live in a 4G area where it would probably fly as a 4G charge.

Plan requirements for the EVO:

Everything Data Plan
+$10 (PER EVO) Buyup
+$29.99 (Optional) HotSpot Buyup (Without this you cannot use the phone as a hotspot, but with it you CAN use it [even in 3g only areas!!!])
