Default Samsung i9000 Galaxy S LED Flash Camera Availability

There has been quite a lot of talk on various forums/blogs/etc whether or not the i9000 has or has not an LED Camera Flash.

Seeing as handtec advertise the i9000 by stating it does have an LED Flash I wrote to them yesterday in an attempt to put this away once and for all.
I made it clear their reply must contain written proof to their web site specification claim.

Also I asked on a question of the Video supporting an LED light as this is also mentioned by handtec in the i9000's specification list. See the answer to that as well in the reply.

Their reply is listed below and also came with a .pdf attachment which I am also forwarding on here.

Below was the reply I received from them.

Thanks for your email,

We have had this query once already today so it seems to be cause of great debate as you have mentioned, we have been doing our research to ensure you receive the correct information, and in response to this i can confirm the Samsung I9000 does have an LED Flash, however in regards to the video light we cannot confirm this until the device has been released and tested.

I am very sorry i could not answer your question at this current time however as soon as we have the item we will be more than happy to test this out for you, in the meantime the only information we have managed to obtain from our sources is shown on the attached file.

The above information is pretty much the only info we have on this, and very little concrete evidence of the Video LED is available, once we receive stock we will of course validate this and ensure the site is updated accordingly.

Please advise if we can assist you further?

Kind regards.

I wonder what that pdf is? I mean, it looks like a screencap from some site. Do you think that is handtec's distributer?

edit to add: All the places that have review device (gsmarena, for example) don't have a flash, but they also state that they had less RAM than the actual phone (256 vs 512), so maybe Samsung haven't actually finalized the details yet? I mean, they are being very secretive.

Personally, I don't think (given the details we know so far) that the phone has a flash, and so far ONLY handtec have stated that it does. I wish Samsung would release the detailed specifications!

I'm with you on this in that I do not believe there will or is an LED Flash.
However, as handtec have published it and sticking to their proof I have to publish it myself.

As to where the written pdf proof came from I am not sure.... It could have come from a Distributer who had initial findings sent by Samsung.

..and thank you for it!

I personally don't mind to much about the flash, but it would be nice to know for certain what we are buying! I guess it's only a week or two until we all find out for sure.

And where exactly have you based this short and tepid answer from?

I personally do not believe it will either but unlike your answer I chose to forward a 'debate' on the issue rather than a proclamation.

I mailed back too handtec for checking what their source is in this subject. If they are not lying us right up in the face I think Samsung Galaxy S will get a LED flash...

"Dear Mr Karlander.

This information has been passed to us from Samsung distribution in UK.

The information provided to you in the attachment has been passed direct from Samsung."

Cool! I am totally confused now as to why none of the review units have a flash, maybe it is a 16gb model thing.

It's possible the feature just wasn't enabled when they released the ROM for the demonstrators. If it is there, great, if not, meh, I've already ordered mine
Samsung Galaxy S II - Android 2.3.3(XWKF3)

An update from Chris Love of Clove ~ Chris has put in an email to the Product Manager to clarify the LED Flash.

The Product Manager is also coming down to see them on the 7th June when Clove showcase the i9000 to Smartphone Essentials Magazine.

So hopefully we may have an answer soon.
