Question [newb] Touch pro T7272 hangs at boot?

Hi there, fellow htc owners!
First of all I'd like to thank all enthusiasts willing to use their knowledge and expertise to bring new technology to our devices, of which I never even thought it was possible. It was such a release to find out I could ditch the nightmare called windows mobile. A few months ago I tried an early release on my phone, which was nice but obviously not yet developed to the point where it could take in winmo's place.

the past few weeks I've been reconsidering. A friend of mine (who owns my old kaiser) got android up and running on his phone. Hallelujah, good lord etc.! So smooth, responsive, stable and above all: complete...! Only the kaiser's low resolution and the bad touch screen kept me from wanting my old phone back! :P

So I decided to give my touch pro t7272 (raph100 I figured out) another shot.
Sad enough, I didn't get as far as I did last time.

Here's what I did.

1. I downloaded the 2.1 build from the XDAndroid sticky in this forum, updated it with the "31.5.10NEW!" system file.

2. I formatted my 2Gig SD card

3. copied all the files, followed by placing the raph100 "startup.txt" in the root.

After starting Haret, I got past the terminal lines and the screen calibration.
Seconds later there was a nice animation of a colorful "X" shape, which kept on going and going until I came back from work (which was 2 hours after I left). HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT (*caugh*understatement*caugh*).

unexperienced as I am at this, I somewhat hope, by chance, that there might be someone who knows how I could resolve this issue? and make my wet dream come true *lol* :P.

I'm currently using the stock 6.1 winmo, and my device is unlocked (had other winmo roms installed before).

Because of the animation, this is all the info I have.. no error of whatsoever.

Any help, even just a link to the topic where I can find the answer myself would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and again, thumbs up for all the people making the effort for all of us!

regards.

There are lots of people on this board with similar complaints, and there are quite a few possible causes.

First I recommend that you make absolutely sure your phone is indeed a RAPH100 - is it unbranded?

I would also try deleting the data.img and booting again to recreate it.

Let me know what happens.
Previous devices:
HTC Universal, HTC Monet, HTC Touch Pro, HTC Dream, HTC Hero, Motorola Milestone

LG Optimus 2X [CM7 with stock launcher and ironkrnl]

Agree with using CAB install. Had simular issues on my WM6.5 modded ATT Fuze. Installed the CAB version and works everytime.
