Time it takes to Root Official 2.1

Wondering if someone might have an idea of how long typically (weeks? month? never?) it will take someone to develop root access to the new official Sprint 2.1. I am a noob and should have done some reading before I had sprint update my phone. I really like the 2.1, but would like the app2sd and tethering. My mistake!
I know there is no definite answer, but just wondering..

Well, EVO was rooted before it was released. Incredible is going on 3 months after release and its not rooted yet(Wow, that is surprising). Eris was 4 or 5 months...we were 2 or 3 months for the initial root...
It seems like there is one other phone that has been out for a while that doesn't have root yet...maybe the backflip?

You really can't at all put a time line on them, looking for a needle in a hay stack, or actually...an exploit in a kernel... is difficult. Especially since our kernel is fairly aged in linux years - everything has been patched. Right now I assume they have moved on to finding an undiscovered exploit some where.
