this is what happens

C:\Cdma Root\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
# cat /sdcard/DroidSans-Bold.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf

cat /sdcard/DroidSans-Bold.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf

cannot create /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf: read-only file system

Wait a second, Android and/or Sense UI don't come stock with international fonts and keyboards?

Took me 5 seconds to add Russian keyboard to the iPod Touch I got recently but even before that all Russian text displayed fine on web sites and email.

I already set my mind on getting EVO but this would be a major bummer

You need to push the font while in recovery mode (if you are rooted).
Then it should work as you can write to system only when in recovery mode.

I was able to successfully push my fav font to /system/fonts/DroidSans.ttf

Just follow the instructions from the previous post and you should be good to go

Default Foreign Fonts on Evo (i.e. Russian, hebrew arabic)

Hi,
I just rooted my brand new Evo according to instructions on this forum, and also did the recovery process and flashed a new ROM.
Please can anyone now direct me to step-by-step instructions on installing Hebrew fonts and keyboard on my Evo? I did it on my Hero on the past, so I have the font files. Please suggest how to proceed and where to find the instructions.
Thank you

to OP,

post questions in q and a. if you have a how-to, post in general, or in q and a with a 'how to' in the title.

development is meant for how to get around in the device, and how to flash ROMs, recoveries, and variations on both.

not trying to be jerky, but this forum is out of control with people posting questions in dev
If you need help, try IRC #Cyanogenmod in freenode.net
Someone may be able to help you there. I will try, if I'm on.

please bear with me i am quite a newbie

I am in recovery mode (atleast i think I am), I opened a cmd shell try adb push this is what I get

C:\Cdma Root\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb push C:\Cdma Root\droidsans.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
The system cannot find the path specified.

# adb push C:\Cdma Root\droidsans.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
adb push C:\Cdma Root\droidsans.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
adb: not found

# push /sdcard/DroidSans-Bold.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
push /sdcard/DroidSans-Bold.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
push: not found

# cat /sdcard/DroidSans-Bold.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
cat /sdcard/DroidSans-Bold.ttf > /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
cannot create /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf: directory nonexistent

so can anyone post step by step please?
