Default Cloud to Device API - Google I/O???

At Google I/O they announced the new cloud-to-device api where you can send a page directly from Chrome to your Android where it automatically loads the screen from your desktop Chrome on your Android with 1 click.

Check it out here, its 12:15 into the video on youtube, search for: "Google I/O 2010 - Keynote Day 2 Android Demo - Full Length" - its the 42 min version.

Also, you can see a review on thechromesource website /tag/cloud-to-device-api/

Is there something like this out now to start using or do I have to wait for 2.2?

Thanks!!

It's called Chrome-to-Phone, requires Chrome (Browser) and the C2P plug-in, and also will require a program for your phone which requires Froyo (for API 8).

Does that mean I have to wait for Froyo to be (officially) released or go with unofficial release?
Thanks!

An official release will definitely work, the unofficial (SDK) release may or may not, as the code isn't necessarily final.

Additionally, at last check, I don't believe the C2P .APK is available yet. Don't quote me on that, though.

There's the official (by HTC) release for our phones
There's the unofficial (not yet released by HTC) official (released by google) release that I'm sure people will fit to our phones before HTC releases theirs
Then there's the unofficial release (kindof where it stands now).

So...I have no idea if it will work right now (remember, Froyo isn't actually out yet, what people have been putting on their N1 and Droid is an unfinished leak). When the official release by google comes out, it will most likely work as quick as our devs can port it over and it will 99% be likely to work with the official release by HTC promised before the end of the year.
