Three UK... I'm not sure why they haven't made a big official announcement yet.

When I rang them asking for an upgrade they seemed like they want me to get it...But then again the guy might have been on a commission so all he could do with me was tell me to try again when it's on their system.

Someone claimed that T-Mobile UK retentions said they would probably have it in July, but it's not on their website as "coming soon".

After T-Mobile discontinued the HD2 (which I was kinda iffy on software-wise: I do like WM6.5, but there's no future in it) I had all but decided to go with the Desire when I'm up for an upgrade in August. However, I have major misgivings about its weird PenTile display - it's faking WVGA and it seems to turn greys pink. The capacitive sensor it shares with the Nexus One also doesn't look so great.

The Galaxy S looks like it might be the better option, as long as it can be rooted and gets Froyo. (Would be nice if you could run HTC Sense on it too.) I can live without notification lights and camera flashes more than I can with a weird screen with pink issues.

Edit: The Galaxy S screen also seems to be PenTile? Gah. I suppose it has a better GPU.. can't we have a high-end Android phone here with a proper screen?

Have visited one of the Vodafone shops. For several days they had Ads inside the store, today they had a plastic model to show people (as for all phones).

When I asked I was told it is comming very soon, potentionally as soon as tomorrow (as I understood the guy was speculating, but he was speaking from his experience on getting the plastic showcase models).

So I unticipate that tomorrow - monday is the day UK gets 16gig version.

Prices - free phone from 40 a month (18 month contract) or 25 + 200. Plus additional 5 pounds for 1 gig of internet allowence.

Prices are actually higher than for Desire or Nexus. Actually, they seems to be on par with IPhone.

I thought this was an artefact of PenTile RGBG displays in general. But even if it doesn't have the pink cast, text isn't going to be as nice as it would be on a true WVGA display as shown here. With fewer subpixels it can never be as sharp.

Maybe the newer technology on the Galaxy S means that the pink is gone and text is as sharp as any other LCD, but I'm not sure how the latter can be. Would be nice to see some close-ups of text on the Galaxy S screen.
