Well, I think they still make you sign the contract in order to buy it at a subsidized price. Locking it to a specific carrier is just redundant.

be careful... afaik ROGERS and FIDO are basically the same now ... if u try another carrier's sim it probably wont work

True... i just tried with telus. No go.

But I am pleased to know that the Rogers version will work with Fido anyway because plenty of Rog phones aren't compatible with Fido SIMs and vice versa.
