i could be wrong

but from the video it doesn't appear that it matters how fast you ctrl c or kill the process. its supposed to stay listed in devices.

the problem we are having is that its only listed in devices for the briefest of seconds and then when recovery finishes loading its no longer in devices.

am I correct?

you need to update your "android 1.0" drivers... I had the same problem

$ ./adb push ota.zip /sdcard/update.zip
failed to copy 'ota.zip' to '/sdcard/update.zip': Permission denied

So... I am a little lost as to which point I am fouling up the process.

I thought maybe I wasn't hitting ^C quickly enough, so I expanded on loop.sh to look like this:

#!/bin/bash

while :
do
found=$(adb devices | grep -sq offline && echo $?)

if [ "x$found" = "x0" ]; then
break
fi
done

So that it breaks as soon as it sees the device.

Still a no-go.

ok so i'm following the video and I start the loop then I boot into recovery but it still says "device attached" or whatever it is. It doesn't change like it's suppose to. Also when the bubble pops up saying android 1.0 it prompts me to install something but I hit cancel. Am I doing something wrong here?
