The boot loop happens when you don't wipe.

Step 3 flashes recovery. If you don't want if don't do it. But its recommended just to make it easier so when you do want to flash another ROM.

I believe that Rom.zip you are talking about can be found in the same stock ruu.exe thread. Just go down a couple of posts.

i found a thread that talks about it the file was called rom.zip (i think)
what i did was:
remove sd card and used a usb card reader to copy my files to my PC
formated my sd card
downloaded the rom.zip file (or whatever it was called)
renamed the rom.zip to PC36IMG.zip and copied to SD card
put sd card back in
hold volume down and power and reload the pc36img.zip file
reboot and enjoy your stock rom again

if i can find that thread, i'll post here
is this what u are looking for:
RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1

Thanks....about 2 minutes after I posted that, I realized that I had not done the wipe. Did that and everything back to normal!

I to was having problems installing the rooted Stock rom .6 ver. The Simple root went well and everything was done without a hitch. Everything seems to load when the phone loads it would get stuck in the boot loop.

Although I wiped the user data and the cache BEFORE I loaded the rooted stock rom it still got stuck in the boot loop.

I went back into recovery and wiped again (sometimes the paperwork just ain't done enough) and then reloaded the Stock Rooted ROM and low and behold she's working like a champ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for this simple tool. I'm a noob with Android (been using WM and Palm for years) so this will be my first attempt at rooting my EVO. I've read through the thread and I do have a couple questions I didn't see answered, but I apologize if I missed anything.

OK so this is the stock ROM that I can reflash to after using a cooked ROM to go back to stock, got it. However is there a way to un-root, to return the phone's software 100% back to stock in case I need to exchange it, or for some other reason. Thanks again!

Walk in the park all 3 steps. thankyou.
Windows XP32bit.

for those who had problems launching step 2 and 3. Just go to Windows/System32 and copy the cmd.exe to the desktop. Rename it to for-root. Copy that and paste it into the Simple Root folder to overwrite the original file. Step 2 and 3 should work flawlessly after that. Good Luck.

I got a little bit farther this time with the updated version. It gets to the point where it is moving the eng-pc136.zip(or whatever) and it tries to do that for awhile and then says cannot move eng-pc136.zip to pc136.zip, access denied - read only.

And this is after it passed the step to change the permissions, it finished all of the steps just fine in the cmd line. Since it changed the permissions and did everything else before pushing the zip, is there a shorter way I can do it now that the cmd finished alot of steps, maybe now I could just drag the zip into sdcard with it set on disk drive?
