EDIT: Tried a few from this post and i get the same errors
The second error message usually happens for one of two reasons:
1) Your phone isn't S-OFF
2) You do not have the correct HBOOT version (which in your case, should be 0.76)
To check if these things are your problem, you need to boot into bootloader; and while booted, looked at the printed green text at the top of the screen; you should see both S-OFF and Hboot 0.76; if you do not, then those are the things you'll need to fix. If you have one thing right, but not the other; then that other thing needs to be fixed.
To fix the S-OFF issue, you'll have to install Unrevoked Forever on your phone. You must be ROOTED first though.
To fix the Hboot version (that is, to get 0.76) on your phone, you'll need to download the file that's inside this thread. But, in order to flash this file, you HAVE to be S-OFF, so do the above step FIRST -- if it's not done already
1) Place .zip file on the root of your SD card.
2) Turn phone off.
3) Boot into fastboot by pressing the POWER button and VOLUME DOWN button at the same time.
4) Wait for it to find the file. It will ask you if you want to flash this file. Press yes.
5) Let it flash your new splash screen. When it's done, simply reboot and you'll see your new splash!
For more splashes and wallpapers, go to my thread here on XDA!
If you submit a good idea, I'll even make you some custom wallpapers or splashes!
How to Install:
1) Place .zip file on the root of your SD card.
2) Turn phone off.
3) Boot into fastboot by pressing the POWER button and VOLUME DOWN button at the same time.
4) Wait for it to find the file. It will ask you if you want to flash this file. Press yes.
5) Let it flash your new splash screen. When it's done, simply reboot and you'll see your new splash!

Does anyone have the nexus one boot screen for the evo? I've been looking for it for a while, and can see to find it.

I've attached the stock Nexus One bootanimation below. I believe it's the one you're looking for.
You can use adb push to copy the file to either /system/media or /system/customize/resource pending on if you're using a Sense or AOSP based ROM. The first directory is for AOSP (CM) and the second is for Sensed based ROM's.

Indeed.
I've attached a simple Batman Splash Screen (I can make changes or create one based on the image you select -- PM for that). Anyways, here's what I've created -- hope you like it::
To install:
1. Download the file
2. Unzip the file
3. Copy/move the splash1.img to your AndroidSDK\tools folder
4. Boot into bootloader mode (fastboot USB shown in red)
5. Connect phone, open CMD/Shell and enter following:
Code:
First cd into your androidsdk\tools dir
then enter --
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot reboot
DONE! Enjoy.
If you unfamiliar with fastboot or don't know how use it -- I can create a flashable file as well.

Pseudomora, I have hboot 0.76 and I'm rooted with s-off and I have no problems doing anything.
however yesterday I rooted my friends evo and he has hboot 0.97 and s-off...used unrevoked 3 and unrevoked forever to root and unlock nand. Monday we were planning to change his boot animation and splash screens. Do I need to downgrade his bootloader?
Swyped from my HTC Evo 4G on the MetroPCS 1X network!
HTC Wizard -> HTC Evo 4G -> HTC Evo 3D -> Samsung Galaxy S3 -> Samsung Galaxy Note II
Motorola Xoom 10.1 -> Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 -> Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
does anybody have a working copy of the red rage bootanimation? that one is sweet.
