But I AM rooted, still I get the same error. I copied q-ime.apk on /sdcard, then used ES File Explorer and tapped on the file. After a confirmation dialog, it says "Application not installed". If it has to ask for root, where does it do?

Anyway thought will get around by adb, but some problem with there too:

i think it has to do with the system and build props or something - I uninstalled my droid X mulitouch, and ran into the same problems putting it back. not sure how to fix it.
supposedly, placing the .apk into the system/app folder, and giving it the correct permissions + reboot will activate it, but that never worked for me

i have the Miui Rom and i tried to install the droid x keyboard, but not successfully. i always get FCs.
i tried to replace the LatinIME.apk (with the right permissions!) but it didn't work.
installing the app also wasn't successfull.
any other ideas? or is there another droidx keyboard for miui?

Would this work properly on CM7-RC4?
