Default LCD/Screen Replacement

I've been watching ebay for LCD replacement kits and just noticed the first one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=270600553474

I think this is worth a topic to discuss options for LCD replacement in general.

My first question of course is whether this assembly is Novatek or Epson. I'm also wondering if this is the whole glass+digitizer+lcd assembly or just the separate parts which require glueing together. I've emailed the seller about these.

Edit:

The seller got back to me and listed the Part #s on the back of the LCD:

2V6A1XXXXXXXXX
83H00256-02

These numbers match up with those on the back of the LCD from the iFixit teardown here:

http://s1.guide-images.ifixit.net/ig...1pEWaAQ1k.huge

The seller also claims that he has BOTH models of the LCD. So presumably one could choose whether he wanted the Novatek or the Epson display. The iFixit teardown came out before the device was released so I expect those numbers are from a Novatek display.

Edit:

Seller replied saying the item is for the entire assembly as in the above iFixit picture: LCD + touchscreen digitizer glass. He says all you need to do is drop it in the mainboard.

Based on this info, it sounds like a pretty easy install.

Now who wants to switch their Epson for a Novatec??

There is a way to tell without opening the phone, I came across it on the forums the other day, but the method seemed sorta complicated and involved using your pc.

Probably something like:
Code:
adb shell dmesg > C:\phonedmesg.txt
You need Android SDK installed.
Ctrl+F: nova or epson.

I am glad I got the insurance on my phone. No buying a screen for 150.00 for me.
