Default Official Froyo support apps on SD Card?

Hi! all. need to clarify something about froyo.
1) I read that Froyo supports installation of apps to SD Card instead of the phone's memory. But some ppl have mentioned that although this feature is built in, it doesn't mean that all apps in the market is applicable because the developer must first have allowed this to be done in the first place meaning if the apps that were earlier on available in the market might not be compatible & i'll still have to install Apps2SD to install apps to my SD Card. Is this true?

2) If lets say that question 1 is not true & that all apps can be installed to the card, i would still be unable to access the paid apps cause i live in a country without the android market. how would i be able to browse & get these paid apps for free & install them on my SD card in the same way as a rooted Desire.

Appreciate clarification

1. Yes, this is true.
The application developer has to add to the project manifest file an option where he would like to install his application to: Auto, SD, Internal memory.

While 2.2 allows to install applications to SD, the developer must enable it first.

2. I too live in a country that is unable to access the paid applications, for that there is an app called market enabler which allows you to emulate the sim ID of another country.
Allowing you to purchase applications from the market using google checkout.

which means that custom rom 2.2 is still the way to go if i want to install all apps without worrying whether the developer has added that option or not. any idea which rom is stable with the following features:
1) Apps2SD
2) Chinese display & input
3) Flash video & games support

appreciate everyone's help cause i'm very new to android especially custom roms. have read that some custom roms are unstable & can cause problems.
