DONATE TO ME
Default Extremely Disappointing Lack of Official Accessories

I thought the Slide would be a good phone to invest in, considering the first MyTouch was T-Mobile's top Android phone for the longest time. It has its share of accessories.

They dropped the ball on this one. There's absolutely NOTHING. At first I thought OK, maybe it's a little too early to be looking for Slide accessories. Then the "official" launch date came and went. Still nothing.

What have I bought so far? A micro fiber pouch (still a must, IMO).

What I really want is a decent desktop cradle or goose-neck car mount (I have a glass-top desk, so this would work wonderfully). Yeah, I realize eBay has about a zillion car mounts. They're MFing ugly though. I want something that doesn't stick out further than the front of the phone. Was thinking a magnetized suction mount: I'd adhere the magnet to a cheap silicone sleeve so I don't harm the phone. Oh wait, there ARE no silicone sleeves for this phone.

Argh.

Just checked out their official site for accessories. LOL a $30 plastic snap-on kickstand? No doubt similar to Chinese covers you can get on eBay for a few dollars. You have got to be kidding me.

Anyways, I think I'm going to just get an mGrip, as it's the least tacky looking suction mount, IMO. Anyone have one of these?

Either that or I'll get a magnetic mount/goose neck, and adhere it to a replacement battery cover, so I'm not affecting the phone's original battery cover. (Thought about adhering the magnet to one of those eBay-speshul snap-on covers, but I don't like that idea either, as snap-on can just as easily scratch the phone. Yes, I'm extremely anal about this.)

Sorry for the rant/babble... I thought maybe some of you might share my thought processes here. :P

Another update:

This looks promising. It's called the "In Your Face Viewbase" for iPhones, but it looks like it would fit nicely around the Touch.

A bit overpriced at $30, but it looks pretty slick, and there are a few places I could clip this thing on or around my desk.

I want the water bottle that comes with the arm strap, but not for $40.
