I have several reports of it working perfectly even without flashing the new SPL. Some people flashed the SPL and it seems very hard to downgrade, and make you unable to downgrade the actual Android OS. I upgraded myself the radio through the zip I published in the OP, with no visible problems.

So I don't think there's any risk of failure because you don't flash the SPL too.

Cool. Will try and report back!

Nice
So is this safe to flash yet? I'm on cm6 rc1 using a T-Mobile USA n1.

To those of you that have flashed it, any differance in data speed and reception?

I think my reception got a little bit better, but that might be the novelty factor. There's a spot in my room where I never really get signal, and I'm getting 3 bars out of 4 now. That is highly unscientific since I'm not replicating the exact same conditions, and because signal fluctuates anyway. But yeah overall my data connection seems less capricious.

Flashing to my US N1 tmobs cause i got big shiny balls.

Read this, raged about my small opaque balls, then flashed it.

Booting as I type, more to come later.

US unlocked N1

EDIT: Seems like my upload is faster. For some reason, my download is slow with CM6 (using speedtest's app)

Speeds before CM6 - 500 down/500 up
Speeds after CM6 - 60 down/500 up
Speeds CM6/Radio - 60 down/1700 up

What frame rate can the Desire do 720p? The hack for pre-froyo is limited to 20fps so it would be nice to have full 720p capability in froyo.

And secondly...

I have seen that quote around in sig's, wondering if that was really from some thread/post somewhere or just made up; seems almost to dumb to be real. (or a troll posting for fun) If its real, link me to it, so I can point and laugh. (even if it is a troll post for laughs)

My 3g used to hit atleast 500k. Now I can't get past 200k.

On the other hand, I never have 3g in doors. Now I do.

I want the 4.06 radio back, fan some one provide a link?

I think all Nexus Ones are 900/1800 GSM. The only thing that changes is the 3G. If you mean 900 MHz 3G though, I guess it will work, since I'm using an European Nexus One. I cannot vouch for it though, so try with caution. I don't think there are differences in radios, but I can be wrong.

ALL N1's use the same radio, kernel, rom, everything. They are identical except for the radio chip which is all managed in hardware so completely independent of anything you flash onto the phone.

EDIT:

Flashed the radio, confirmed as working ok. Version reported as "32.41.00.32H_5.08.00.04"

Working fine with a recent CyanogenMod Nightly build (07122010) and WildMonks BFS 925mV 2.6.35-rc4 kernel.

EDIT2:

Speedtest gives me around 1900kbps down & 1400kbps up, which is pretty good considering my signal strength is only -85dBm. I'll try it later when I'm in a better reception area, but looks like all is well.

Bluetooth & WiFi are both working correctly as does video recording.

Flashed the zip file in the OP, CM6 RC1, TMO USA, no issues to report. Reception seems the same, speed however has increased. 4mb down, 2mb up.

Before I couldn't get above 1.5mb up and I was hovering around 3mb down.

Hey everyone I've flashed this radio before with good results but thats not why I'm posting today.

Instead I am posting to let anyone who is interested know that this is the radio that came with my replacement phone here in the USA. My replacement phone came shipped with 2.2.1 (not D) and also the 5.08 radio.
