Thumbs up Zagg smartbuds, Updated, with a review

Zagg just released these new smartbuds ~ zagg /audio/smart-buds.php~, (can't post actual links yet).

some of there specs are

"Compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4 and all 3.5mm jacks"

I wonder if there "controls will work with Android or at least Double Twist

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on these things and here is what I think so far

Pros:
noise canceling mic (haven't tested it yet)
extensive cord management
armor covered cords, makes them tough and tangle free, REALLY!
built control works with Mixing app
comfortable

Cons:
a little flat in my opinion, compared to shure SE210 but mixing's equalizer made up for it
volume control is analog, it only controls the volume to the phones, independent to phone volume
Still doesn't have the remote functionality of some iphone head phones

I was really hoping to get a little more out of these. I have to say they a probably have the most feature for android users than any other head phones out there. They have one button and a slider on the "mic" part. The one button works like the one button for the latest shuffle, one click=pause, one click= play, double click=forward track, and triple click=back one track. The volume slide is analog so the range of volume depends on how loud the volume is set on the phone. Overall these are pretty good, I'd say the best for the money. the coating of the wires really does make them pretty tangle free. A good buy for $50, a better buy if you check slick deals for a coupon.

Default I hope they work well with me EVO

Well I just ordered a set of these as I think they will be perfect for work. Still haven't found what buttons will actually work with the EVO but if I can at least answer and hang up then they'll be way better then the Sony set I just returned. Plus I love the way there designed to wear. I have a set of Shure headphones that you wear like that and they are awesome.

it looks like they dropped the price to $50 on zaggs site. and I was able to get them for $40 with the discount code "ZAGG20"

I'll try and post back how well they work with my EVO when I get them.

Do you have to put water in your ear canals before you insert them?

Actually it's water mixed with baby oil. plus they come with a multipurpose squidgy q-tip. JK.

I really can't wait for mine to come in. I figured the volume control would be analog although I was hoping for digital. and I never really expected them to sound as good as my Shure se210's but when you consider the price difference and the terrible build quality on Shure's optional Mic (which only lasted 6 months for me tops. Which is the same problem I had for the original Shure extension cable) I'm sure I will be happy with them. I mean considering these have a longer warranty and cost the same as I paid for the Shure Mic alone I won't mind carrying these with me too work and risking damage. and my se210's can stay home by my computer where they belong.

Does the mic button work for answering a call and ending it?

well I just got mine in haven't got a chance to give them a good full test yet.
I have noticed that the button does answer incoming calls although it doesn't end them on my Evo running DamageControl V3.5. Instead it mutes the Mic. This is rather annoying and I hope theres an option somewhere to change that so I can hang up on people with out having to take my phone out.

I also haven't been able to get the previous track by triple pressing the button instead it goes forward a track and then pauses.

I'll give more info after I've had more of a chance to play around with them.

Edit: Ok so I did a little looking and it seems a long press on the button will end the call. So now I'm happy. So when in a call a quick press mutes the mic and a long press ends the call.

You probably couldn't run with these, huh. I need a pair of earphones/headphone that I can run with that has a remote so I can play and pause and skip without having to reach for my phone.
