Default Reason for removing simcard while flashing?

I have read in many different places that one should remove simcard and memorycard before flashing... Why is this?

I have flashed many phones many times (HD2 has been flashed the most ) asnd can't remember the last time I removed the sim and memcard. It has never gone wrong, am I just extremely lucky?

I cant say for sure about Android, but on Symbian reason was that flashing process could be interrupted by phone call, sms, etc.

SD - Id say because some files could interact with flashing, though thats just my wild guess.

Thanks for the quick response...

I thought it would be something about receiving a call during updating, but since the phone (as well as the HD2) would go into a different mode when updating I didn't think there was any risk. The phone is disabled during updating right?

I can imagine something about the sd card, but again... Perhaps something from the early days. I now can't imagine how the sd card would mess with the updating (maybe if there is some update file on the sd card as well, etc).

Ah well, perhaps I'll remove them anyway to be sure

I forgot mine yesterday when flashing G5. Had some anxious moments, as I noticed it during the flash process. Anyway nothing bad happened. Everything worked as expected.

No reason, no need, unless you like wasting time.

Well... the only time my SGS failed to flash was when i left the simcard and microSD in it. After I took them out it worked fine...

Whether that was the cause or just coincidence, I can't be sure. But from now on I remove them just in case.
