Default USB/AC cradle that charges phone when computer is off?

OK, I bought one on ebay for $20 and asked before the sale if the cradle would charge my phone _without_ having to be connected to a computer. The answer was yes. I received the cradle (from Hong Kong) and it will only charge phone when connected to USB! The AC adapter must only charge the battery compartment.
I want a cradle that I can hook up to my computer by USB and be plugged into an AC outlet so when I need to sync, I can sync, and when the computer off the phone will still charge from the AC adapter.
If anyone knows about one that does this, please reply with a link or model of one.

well the seller was correct, it can be charged without a computer. you will have to plug the usb cable into an adapter and plug it into the wall. you can get them for $30 at the apple store or $1 online.. your call so when you want to charge with computer off plug it into the wall, and when you want to charge/sync from the computer plug it into the computer. basically you're going to have 2 usb's running from the cradle to the wall, i believe.

just wondering, what are you syncing on your phone? one of my fav features of android is you don't need a computer to sync, everything is done over the net. i'm pretty sure no matter what you're syncing you can find a solution that will allow it to be synced (is the plural of sync sunk, haha) over WiFi/3G/4G.

That would defeat the purpose of what I'm after. I want a cradle that I can use the USB to sync with and the AC adapter to continue to charge my phone once I turn my computer off.

The ebay vendor stated this would work, when of course it didn't, so I'm getting a refund but the hassle is what I'm trying to avoid.

I think I have found one from a company that specifically states (on the write up) "Comes with an AC power adapter to charge your phone and/or battery if you don't have a computer/laptop USB connection available"

I am using HTC Sync because I use Outlook on my computer(s) and, right now, it's important for me to be able to sync locally. One day I will switch over to Gmail (cloud) synching but at the moment, it's not quite prime time for my unique needs. Getting there though.
