Default Battery % not reporting correctly?

My battery % was showing 60% available. I removed the battery and sim in preparation of flashing but changed my mind when I powered back up it was showing 39%.

Has anyone else seen this issue, I'm thinking it might be the cause of the battery issues people have been reporting.

I have had the same issue. Not sure how to fix yet though.

If you've rooted your 'phone deleting the batterystats.bin file when the SGS is fully charged is a possible solution.

To delete this file do the following:

adb shell
su
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin

Ok I just did some research. Apparently this is done intentionally by samsung and it's not a bug. They just use a different chart for determining how much battery life is left. So from 100% to 71% the indicator will look like it's fully charged, as an example.
