Default Captivate Camer

Hello;

My first post here. I am noob to Android and Captivate and XDA.
I played around with the captivate in the ATT store yesterday, and it seemed like the shutter lag on the camera was 2005 style. It just surprised me how long the lag was. I was truly impressed with the iphone's camera app which is super quick even by modern digital camera standards.

What are your experiences? Is there some other application that works better in the Android market? Does putting another ROM fix this issue?

You need to reset the settings, sounds like someone enabled some filters on it, its very fast for me, and I just went from and iPhone4 to the Captivate.

I also went from an iPhone 4 to the Captivate. I would agree with designgears on this one. Taking pictures is very fast on my phone.

Regarding the lack of flash - it's not really an issue for me. I guess it's a pretty subjective issue though. I felt as though the flash on the iPhone ruined the pictures. They looked awful if it was used. I was in a bar type setting last night, very dimly lit. I used the night mode on the Captivate camera and the pictures came out OK. I wish I didn't delete them or I would share. However, I have a digital point and shoot so I'm not too worried about picture quality on the phone. It works for taking quick shots. Very nice pictures if well lit, somewhat grainy/noisy otherwise and it worsens the darker it is obviously.

I tried the captivate again this afternoon and I agree now. The camera is really fast. I still feel iphone is quicker, but only barely. I think lag is not an issue on this phone.

I have the same feelings about an LED flash as well. Pictures tend to look faded. But it's useful in a pinch.

What made you guys switch from the iphone? Antenna?

It must have been the floor model Captivate at the ATT store that had a problem.

The iPhone4 single LED is a joke, the only thing it was good for was a flashlight.

Night mode works pretty well, if there is no light at all, then a flash would come in handy.

Yes, I switched because of reception problems. It was sort of ironic that my call was dropped three different times when I called Apple to try and setup a return.

How do you like the Captivate compared to the Iphone4? or any iphone?

Is the speed a big different between the two?
