This doesn't belong in the development section.

As for your answer:
You do not need the MTP application to connect to odin (READ the FAQ!)
As for the application, it will probably work if you flash new firmware. Alternatively, if you don't want to do that, return the phone to your retailer.

You DO NOT need mtp to flash!

Het is echt heel simpel de tutorials te volgen. Die MTP applicatie is alleen in android. Maar android staat UIT als je flasht!

do not need... depends.

if you like the simple way, (update.zip) yes.. you do.
the pc wont reconize SGS without the application.

en ja, de tutorials lees ik aandachtig.
en ik gebruik ook de search optie..

You never need it..
If you put the mobile into the download mode, start KIES and the drivers will be installed (or choose reinstall from menu).
And if you want to use update.zip then you are connected via adb-bridge..

So no need for MTP! MTP is just for syncing and with FW JG1 it was dead (infinite start of the app).
Also MTP will not start on other launchers, except of TouchWiz!

Well we said you should flash your device. We didn't say anything about installing an update. The update will most likely not solve your problem. A flash definitely will.

Yeah!
A good syncing utility like iTunes for the iPhones would be great for android devices..
