Default IMEI Mis-Matches

How many of your guys phones IMEI's match the box after flashing?

I've notived quite a few posts about IMEI's not matching after a firmware flash or Nandroid flash over the few Galaxy S forums combined and am wondering why this is happening.

You can check you IMEI by going to settings >about phone>status

And compare this with the on on your box or behind the battery.

I'm not sure to what extent T-Mobile uses the IMEI as far as auth to services.

Reviving an old thread, but I just checked mine two different ways.

Going to settings -> About Phone -> Status, my IMEI matches the box.

When I check via *#06# [Call] from the dialer, then the IMEI is the same, but there are a /3 appended to the end. Does anyone know anything about this?

In your phone's status, your IMEI may change, but your actual IMEI will always be the same. Picture your IMEI as your MAC address. It cant be changed. It can be substitued, but the original always remains. Plus if Tmobz were to look into your account, only the original shows up. I know because i almost got in trouble for processing an exchange when the IMEI's didn't match lol.
