Unhappy Wildfire not vibrating when recieving SMS

Hey, I am getting so annoyed by this, and was praying someone could help lol.
My HTC Wildfire is not vibrating when recieving SMS's. I have checked and double checked the usual sms settings, which all show that it is meant to be on.
I have looked around the forums and have found this to be a re-occuring issue, the solution being to download an app called 'Sound manager'. However, I have looked on the android market place and just cannot find it...

If anyone can help me with this I will gladly have their baby's

Hello Hangover,

I had exactly the same problem!!
To make it possible to find and install sound manager (plus all other apps that do not appear on the market on our QVGA Wildfire) do the following:

- Install the applications 'Appbrain' and 'Fast Web Installer' on your Phone.

- Go to appbrain.com on your pc and create your account

- Synchronise your Phone and the appbrain account with the Appbrain application on the phone

- Search for Sound Manager on the appbrain website and click install

- This will push the application directly to your phone without going via the Android Market.

- Application will download and install.

That's it!!

Cheers,
Sylvain

this does not seem to be a correct reply.. i dont have a solution .. but i would say if your phone is new get a replacement..Before that make sure you are using default sms app and not handcent sms or some other app.. if u are using some market app.. open the app press menu and check its settings...

Hi Warrior,

Not vibrating when receiving an SMS seems to be quite common on android devices. It's not a hardware fault, no need to return it therefore...
This problem is solved by installing the application Sound Manager and changing the vibration settings in that application. You can uninstall it afterwards again if you don't want to keep it without affecting the vibration behaviour.

An additional problem on the Wildfire is that you simply can't find the application Sound Manager on the market (probably because of it's QVGA screen).
I described here above a way to find and install this application.

I'll leave it to the original poster to decide if he wants to read more about the solution I suggested and possibly try it afterwards.
I just know it worked for me...

Regards,
Sylvain

When I get the install option on the AppBrain app I click it and it says "Not Found. The requested item could not be found."
I've synched the device and it can see the items I want to install and I've tried this on a few different apps and same error keeps coming up. Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

Dude did you try what i said..press Menu>>all apps>> Select the sms app>> When its open again tap Menu select settings.. and you will see things like notification settings and vibrate on sms ... I dont have any of my android phones with me right now till tomorrow.. so try and explore to the correct settings..

TO try what Sulvian said ::
1> Go to market and search Barcode Scanner (make sure it can read 2D barcodes) install it.
2> Run the program and with your camera scan the following code

and now you are done..

ALso if the above thing does not work try to google for soundmanager.apk

HAVE FUN let me know if it works for you.

Yeah... You need BOTH applications for it to work
The appbrain application itself will simply redirect your phone to the official Android Market causing the 'NOT FOUND' message for some apps.
The Fast Web Installer application will circumvent the 'Android Market-step' and send the app directly to your Phone.

I'm glad it worked for you too!

That's indeed the first thing to check...
Although all settings were set correctly on my Wildfire it would still NOT vibrate when receiving an SMS. If you are in the same situation too, try to install the sound manager application with the procedure described above.

Sylvain
