When I was on the official Froyo 2.2 i897UCKB1 (I see ur on KB2), the only way I was able to get Root was through this...Attachment 711191

Download/ extract the file/ open file/ right click and run as adminstrator the "SuperOneClick"/ go to phone Settings/ Applications/ Usb settings/ and select Mass storage/ back out of that and then select Development/ and put a check in the box of USB debugging/ Home/and then connect ur phone to the computer and then tap ROOT. The "psneuter" Exploit is the one that worked for me.

Hope this helps ya...

thank you, this really helped! it should be in the first post!

I have been trying various roots for my phone and none of them worked.

Until now.

Thanks. All I wanted was root and the Amazon App Store. Screw you At&t.

Do I do download odin to my pc or on the captivate? What does flash a kernel mean? Will odin have this cwm? Thank you.

Odin is a program used from your PC, it only works with Windows.
If you have a Linux laptop or a Mac, Heimdall will perform the same functions.

Flashing a kernel is using Odin to load/install it into your phone. Flashing also refers to to loading special types of zip files from custom recoveries.

Odin does not have CWM, which is a type of custom recovery. You use Odin to flash a kernel that has CWM Recovery built into the it.

This many years later after getting the Cappy when it first came out I've decided to wipe off the dust and play with it again (everyday driver is the S5 now...but screw you AT&T with your damn locked bootloader).

Anyways, the links aren't working but judging by the latest posts it recently was still up. Anyone have the PC version?

TIA!!
