Default [Troubleshoot Discussion] all SGS WiFi problems here!

i dont think this is a SGS specific problem, possibly an app is doing this but cant figure out which one, during the day usually when i take out of sleep the wifi will come on for a moment then switch off, other times it stays on.

I have uninstalled Locale, and now use tasker but there are no settings I have entered for wifi, is there a way of figuring out which app could be doing this?

T-MOBILE G1 (passed on)
Samsung Galaxy S (Sold)
Samsung Galaxy S2 (now with wife)
Samsung Galaxy S3 (currently dead)
Nexus 4 (on wish list!)

I have the some problem and don't know what it is

You can go to options and then go to wifi advanced options
(I have a Dutch phone so i don't know to correct name on English language on your phone)
you can select "never go to sleep" or somthing like that.

But is still have the problem

I'm also finding that I have to detach/reattached the wifi connection quite regularly. I'm using it on a 'n' network.

this is bug in the system.. it is the location doing.. it any app trying to get your location.. you are supposed to be able to turn it off by unchecking use wireless to determin location under wifi.. but it does not always seem to work.

I think the problem is with Google Maps (or Navigation, I don't remember). When I open it and starts to fix my location, the wifi will turn on althought I disabled in the settings the use of wifi networks to help the GPS. In theory, when you close GMaps/Navigation the wifi will turn off, but sometimes it will just leave it on.

It doesn't happen with other GPS apps like GPS Status, etc...

Will check what happens with Sygic later!

yes i have also tried unchecking check wireless networks for location, maybe switch off latitude?

its really bugging me as sometimes it gets stuck on switching off and you then cant do anything, and if you really do need wifi have to restart phone.

edit: switched off latitude, see if this is the culprit

I don't think Latitude has anything to do. I never used it and I have the same problem.

For the record, i'm using firmware XXJF3

If someone is using a newer firmware please check if the bug is already fixed.
