Default Advise: Flashing to official FroYo ROM and rooting

Singapore (Asia) Desire owner, which ROM should I get (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?t=695667)? Is it the "RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00. 2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe"?

And how do I root the official FroYo ROM? My friend did it and he told me to check the forums, but I don't see any thread instructing how to root the official ROM. Advice will be deeply appreciated

I need help! I made a goldcard using this guide (http://www.roothtchero.co.uk/goldcard-2), ran the "RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00. 28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe" RUU as administrator, and followed the instructions. But halfway through I got this error:

Okay, my bootloader version is 0.80 so I downloaded the RUU for that (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4 .06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed) but I get another error:

Okay I know where I went wrong already. Now I'm on the 1.21.405.2 ROM but I am not getting the FroYo update! Any ideas?
