Default [REQ] Unlocking a i9000

I picked up a bell vibrant (i9000) and there is ZERO support for third party unlockers.

I dont understand why we dont have some type of tool to do this. I have seen what can be done on this forum and i am certain the minds on this site should be able to do something.

The code has to be stored somewhere on the phone. Can we not pull it from somewhere?

If it is 100% impossible i would like to know why if someone can explain it.

I would like to know this too... I have one on Movistar in Spain. Is there a /dev/* that we could cat /dev/* to dump the unlock code?

The code is NOT stored in the phone's software, anywhere.

One half of the key pair is stored in an encrypted and dedicated bit of hardware on the phone (the same one that stores the IMEI).

The other half, well, that's the part we need.
