I extracted out the rom.zip from the RUU and here's the link to them.

Mediashare link - 3.26.651.6 rom.zip

These are the Official 2.2 ROM files - they are essentially the same stuff found in the PC36IMG.zip images posted around. They are not rooted.

Here's the file listing, unformatted (file size, file date/time, file name):

The 2nd link is the RUU application used to flash to scratch the Evo from a Windows machine, instead of using the manual zip, bootloader process. If you have ever used a Windows mobile phone, this is that same process. You just put the rom.zip file (must be that name) and put it in the same folder as the application.

MegaUpload - RUU app

This could be used to do Part 1 of the whole rooting process. It could also be used (I believe) to possibly do the entire rooting process in one swift flash. figure this would be helpful so that we [actual devs - not me] can/could create flashable RUU ROMs like we used to with WindowsMobile phones and like we used to with the Samsung Moment and Sprint's update utility.

EDIT: The rom.zip is signed by Sprint, so I believe all the rom.zips that were to be used would have to be signed - but not sure.

Thanks for the post. But the RUU App link takes us to the [ROM]-SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.26.651.6_Radio_2.15.00.0 7.28.zip file.

I'm still new on all this stuff, so I could be wrong, and I'm not doing something correctly.

This is meant to be flashed with recovery.

What do you mean? This is actually found in the RUU app which is the official way to flash ROMs from HTC and Sprint.

I will fix the link for the RUU application itself.... here it is

Smile You may have to run RUU more than once...
Jerdog Thank you sooooooooooooo much. I was able to unroot my phone following the steps and files you provided.

I would like to add a few things to help some future people out along the way.

I download the two files linked above. Make sure you check and see how your computer is set to handle file extensions so you do end up with a file named "rom.zip.zip"

Also I was able to get this to unroot my EVO on Windows 7 home premium 32 bit. One hicup along the way was as I was running the RUU ater placing the rom.zip in the folder, the program gave me a 170 error (usb) and asked me to quit. My EVO was on the black HTC screen with no green bar at the bottom.

I just re-ran the RUU and DID NOT TOUCH MY PHONE. The second time it took and ran and wiped the whole phone. SO if the RUU gives you an error be sure to try running it again, it should take.

Again Jerdog many many Thanks.

Glad to hear! This is helpful, and could be used for a lot of things. Repackaging ROMs using this instead of update.zips I think could be a good option....

With the Moment we were able to have custom recovery's included in something like this

use this rom as a base for Sprint Hero
Since the Hero is officially not getting a Froyo update, can this rom be modified to work on sprint hero.
I am sure this hasn't been brought up before since this is the first 2.2 sense cdma rom.

Could this be used to push a rooted official Rom and clockwork recovery onto the phone? Basically updating to the official 2.2 with root and nand access together?
