ADB will not find your phone in fastboot. You need to download fastboot binary and run fastboot devices to list devices in fastboot mode. If you use windows, you also need to install the fastboot windows driver. (I think you can find that in the android SDK)

YEP I can see it with fastboot devices !!!

What next?

Yeah I tried to re-root and it got stuck at boot loader as I said.
Got the phone Thursday :(

Going to Carphone Warehouse tomorrow and will act dumb, hope they can just give me a new one over the counter! Who knows I might get HBOOT 0.80!

Yes thanks, I've installed the driver as per the instructions. What next?

now try to flash again...so from begin..what georgemv says:

Test your theory.
Pull out the battery and put it back in.
Press and hold volume down and birefly press power on.
Keep volume down pressed for 5 seconds, then release it.
Count 20 seconds, then press the power key briefly once more.
You should now be in fastboot.
Connect your phone to the USB port and it should list it self when you execute fastboot devices.
If see it listed, you can restore the original ROM via the vodafone RUU file.

After leaving it for a while I can now boot again, well blank screen still.
I can even adjust ringer volume.

So I then tried the steps to get into fastboot but adb devices shows nothing. I know the driver isn't a problem as I had ran adb devices earlier on in the day.

Using RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe the process got stuck at waiting for bootloader.

Check a few posts back. adb devices will show nothing. You need to run fastboot devices and install the fastboot driver.

The problem is that I need a RUU with a hboot of at least 0.83, I've tried the generic RUU but I get error 140.

Can anyone help me with finding an appropriate RUU? I don't really know what I'm looking for...

USB Connection error if trying to flash from fastboot? Even though it shows in device manager/fastboot devices?

i read this...:

i downloaded the RUU from XDA-Developers and used RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe to unroot my phone. yes there is newer HBOOT now, it's 0.83 if i'm not mistaken (it comes from HK froyo rom we talked about earlier). so if you flash the official froyo rom, you will probably not be able to root it back for some time till someone solves it, if nobody solves it means you will never be able to root it again.

from here:

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1469656/+1260

and the ruu here:

http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2907

but don´t know if i understand it right...sorry i´m german
