Go to the cyanogen mod wiki and download the stable 5.08 nexus one image. Open it in 7zip and extract the music apk. I installed it and it works fine. I also removed samsung's sound player and music player through titanium backup and everything still works on my phone including ringtones and notification sounds

Are there by chance any other goodies that can be used from that build on the Captivate? I'm loving the music player.

The link to cyanogenmod stable (2.1) for the nexus one is: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/nexu...-N1-signed.zip

there are a number of apps (if not all) that can be straight copied over to our phones (or any HDPI device I believe) since the ROM isn't odexed. I personally use the stock music player and the deskclock utility (though trying to use settings or the music icon on this app causes it to force close).

to put any of these apps onto your phone, either read up on how to enable sideloading/non-market apps with adb OR use the Android Sideload Wonder Machine from Android Central: http://www.androidcentral.com/sidelo...wonder-machine

The music.apk file can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?lncllepwv1pr27b

again, you can remove the Sound Player and Music Player provided by samsung through titanium backup and everything will still work smoothly.

Thanks a bunch! Do I need to install cyanogenmod? I skipped that step and everything is still working fine

I just googled it, works fine for me. Much more functional, the samsung version doesn't let you explore your playlists, so I couldn't use it...
Stock works perfectly though.

no, you don't install cyanogen mod (there is no working cyanogenmod specifically for the galaxy s line yet). Simply install the apk through the android sideload wonder machine. You can pull out the apk's that you want FROM cyanogenmod and install them manually.

there are some apk's that you obviously shouldn't try with this same method (ones that are deeply integrated into the ROM like Dialer.apk or Contacts.apk) without a lot of background research into how to get them up and running smoothly (if it's even possible).

When I tried tunewiki I found it to be a little laggy when scrolling. Does the stock version have this problem on the captivate?
