Question [Q] How to tell if I have the root 2.1 or the leak?

This is probably a dumb question, but I installed 2.1 a long while ago not knowing which version I have. How can I tell if mine can be rooted? And thus if I can install custom roms?

You can root no matter what. I recommend the one-click root app. I think you can find it somewhere in the link above, but there's also a sticky at the top of this forum specifically for the one-click method.

Oh awesome, I kept hearing that the 2.1leak couldn't be rooted, and you had to have waited until the 2.1root rom. I just tried it though and it seems to have worked! thanks so much!

now to find the best froyo rom for eris...

My favorite froyo rom is cyanogentazz. Celb is awesome too. Haven't used kaos much but have heard good things. Try them all out and see which you like best!!

Sent from my leaked rooted HTC Droid Eris with CyanogenTazz v8 Froyo using Swype
