Default [Q] Touchwiz petition?

Anyone think there would be a point in making a petition and sending it to Uncle Sammy, so that maybe in the future touchwiz would be an OPTION rather than mandatory?
I kinda think that samsung won't really listen but I'd be willing to give it a try.

Personally I'm going to be using LauncherPro on my Epic, but it would be nice to just shut off the touchwiz UI without rooting and flashing something new.

Unlikely..their goal is to try to improve TouchWiz till the point people like it..these kind of things heps sets manufacturers apart to the average consumer...overall though its not like TouchWiz 3.0 is bad..if anything most people hate it because either they are used to Sense, think it looks like an iphone, or used a previous TouchWiz and didn't like it...if you set this aside its pretty compatible to Sense, some even like it better...

But again..unlikely..

I don't see any problem with Touchwiz, I think it looks awesome, and if someone has a problem with the performance at all, they can just get a different phone. Touchwiz 3.0 has a ton of features that are just great to have, anyway, couldn't you just run a rom if you don't like it?

When gingerbread launches, google will require none of the hardware vendors from installing custom skins.

I doubt..that would undermine what Android is...remember Android isn't only used in cellphones...its used in car systems and other stuff..Google can't tell vendors to stop loading custom UIs...it would be silly...

You can also just install another launcher and set it as default. LauncherPro, ADW, aHome... etc.

They didn't say they plan to stop/ban custom UI's.

They said they plan to make custom UI's unnecessary.

I don't think they have to get rid of touchwiz.. just make it optional. Rooting is pretty simple and i'll probably do it, but at the same time, why dont they give the user a choice? Like I said, i'll be using LauncherPro on mine, but I think the gesture would be nice on Sammy's part.

That's because Samsung uses TouchWiz, HTC uses Sense, Motorola uses Blur... it's their version. What you're asking is Honda to sell you a Civic but give you the option to use a Corolla engine... it can be done, but it must be swapped (rooted)
