[Q] Adapt old fm transmitter for Vibrant?

I have an old Ipod Touch fm transmitter that I am interested in adapting for my Vibrant. (Why? Because I am a skinflint and somewhat O-C.) It's a Newer Technologies Ipod accessory that worked pretty well by broadcasting to the car radio on an infrequently used channel like 87.6 or something. It plugs into the cigarette lighter on one end and has the stupid Ipod connector at the other end of the cable. So I'm thinking that 1st I would have to get some kind of female adapter for the proprietary Apple connector, and I guess also something to divide it up between the power input and the audio. Am I thinking about this correctly? Am I missing some kind of big incompatibility? Is this actually possible to accomplish?

And yes, I do need a real job!
