Default How to get rid of ads on the aria?

Hello all. I just picked up the my Aria a few days ago...love it because it is so small. I have rooted it(I believe/assume so) and Installed Liberated AriaB5 ROM

Now I am looking to get rid of those PESKY ads in every single app. I have done some research and it looks like the App AdFree works very well, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I downloaded it, when I open it, I grant it superuser perm, but when I try to update the hosts file, it doesn't seem to work. I either get an error message or the phone reboots. Any Ideas?

thanks,
Mike

The ads are there for developers to make money so that they can make those apps. If you really want to get rid of the ads then buy the programs. When you download many of the 'free' apps the developer is saying ok, but I will get some revenue from ads. Taking away their revenue is not going to help app innovation or invention.
HTC INTRUDER-attn1's CM6, Many thanks to all who helped.

I understand that and I sympathize with them. Nevertheless I'm sure you don't want to buy every game out there and I just find it incredibly annoying having ads while playing games, so are you saying there is no option for us Aria users to eliminate the ads with a program such as Adfree?

I don't know anything about adfree, but, just pay for the games then. What you are discussing you might as well steal the games. Most developers don't make their ads too intrusive so you have 2 options.

A)Pay for the games to get them ad free.
B)Deal with the ads on free games.

In all seriousness do you like getting paid for your work? You say you sympathize, but you want to get around the system. You are already using a 'Free' rom from attn1.

I suppose I will buy the ones where the ads really bug me and deal with the ads from the aps that when they aren't incredibly intrusive.

On the topic of do I like to get paid for my work...Yes. Of course. But as a working man we all know that there are several people who get around the system. These people are the minority. I am in NO WAY saything that it is moral or right, but when people for example find some way to get some free stuff from my bakery, they aren't the majority. and if they wouldn't have paid anyways, I figure what the hell...

I know I'm arguing against being a moral person and when posed the question: do you want to steal this? I would of course say no.... but, again, on the shallow surface, if there was an app that would eliminate the ads, myself and I feel comfortable saying that the majority of people on this forum where the great majority have no problem voiding their phone waranties would use the app.

but thank you for your input on this subject.

This is tricky and after about a week of trying to replace the /system/etc/hosts file I have given up. There is something going on with my Aria which makes modifying anything in /etc impossible. I wish I could figure it out only because it Should work but does not.
