The Xperia 10 is OLD-GEN hardware (2009) it's been out in other places for a while.

The only pro you'll find is the Camera.

But it's ok if you like

-384mb of ram, instead of 512mb
-LCD instead of SUPERAMOLED
-Android 1.6 instead of 2.1 (soon to be froyo)
-9gb of storage (1gb internal, +8gb microsd) instead of 16+ micro
-Old bluetooth instead of 3.0

and finally a old gen snapdragon, instead of the best GPU/CPU on the MOBILE Market!

Not to mention, a six-axis sensor that you'll be mising out on.

DO NOT BUY THE X10. The captivate super amoled destroys the lcd, and sony is garbagse. They release a product and people rave about it for 2 months and then sony moves on to something else. This phone was supposed to come out 9 MONTHS AGO!! It didnt even get updated to 2.1, might get updated by december and dont even think about 2.2. Sonys ui sucks and it is very slow too. Only good thing about it is the camera and design
Phone: Samsung Omnia I900=> Xperia X1=> HTC Touch HD=> Blackberry Curve 8320 Unlocked=> Nexus One (AT&T Version)=> Samsung Captivate=> iPhone 4 (black 32 gb)

Tablet: 3g Ipad 32gb

PMP: Ipod Nano 4gb (1st Gen)=> Ipod Touch 16GB (1st Gen)=> Ipod Touch 16gb (2nd Gen)=> Zune HD 32 GB Platinum

I think the X10 UI is pretty, but it is slow. The X10 will be on 2.1 when we already have 2.2. Also the GS touch panel, with true 5 finger multi-touch, destroys the X10.

Captivate has the better SAMOLED screen, with next gen multitouch sensors (ATMEL MAXTOUCH). These sensors can support up to 16 points of contact, but was toned down to 5 points on the Galaxy S devices. While you probably won't ever need 5 fingers on the screen, the ATMEL Maxtouch sensors are the best. Couple said sensors with the SAMOLED screen (which has no air gap between the glass and display), and you have one of the most sensitive screens on the market. It also has one of the fastest, if not the fastest chipsets available on any mobile device thus far. The only con, as you've pointed out, is the lack of flash and lower megapixel camera. Other than that, there really is no competition between the X10 and Galaxy S class phones.
Current Devices:
Sony Google TV (NSZ-GT1)
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3: CM10.1 Nightlies
AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note: CM10 stable
Asus Transformer Prime: CM10 Nightly
iPhone 4: Stock
Motorola Atrix: Cracked screen + MIUI

To be quite honest, flash doesn't really do great for many situations.

It's been proven that the Galaxy S line has a "night mode" in the Native camera app that's really great!

It's kind of like a car audio system. You can have the best components in the world, if they are not put together and tuned properly they will be worse than even the worst components.

Unfortunately, this is the current situation with the Captivate. It has some incredible hardware but a very poor software implementation.

The X10 may only have 1.6 at the moment but it's a much better build that what the Captivate is offering right now. Of course this is based on my personal experience with both devices.

Sorry but this is just bad information. The 2.1 update will be rolling out in September and this is confirmed by Sony. They have also confirmed 2.2 will be out by Q4. I would rather wait for a proper update from Sony than have the ridiculously buggy release of 2.1 on the Captivate.

Anyone sitting in this forum should probably be prepared to write off stock software at a moments notice anyways. The right rom in captivate and same on x10... Captivate wins with hardware. That and 1.6 isn't bad enough to forget the x10.
