[Q] Unmount Cache?

Hi- I rooted my phone last night and now I notice that when I go into recovery mode the cahe partition is always mounted. Is this normal or did I accidentally mount it when I was first in the screen? I am thinking that the system would force unmount of all partitions on closing and that the cache partition gets mounted automatically each time I access.
