Default Froyo ROMS and background apps

In all the Froyo roms currently out here, I have this same problem:

Any random time I check Advanced Task Killer, I'll see 12-15+ apps in the list that are open, that I didn't even open. Sucking my battery, memory and will to live.

Anyone else have this problem? Why do they keep coming on?

This has been addressed elsewhere I believe, so look for that. If you are rooted, you can download AutoKiller and set it to Optimum or Strict and your system will auto-kill background apps as memory fills up.

Let them run, it is fine. If you uninstall that darn task killer you'll never even know that they're running.

Should be in general or q&a

The strange thing is that they don't show up continuously running in something like xtrSense or PlainJain, which is what I find weird.

Default I have the same problem

when I updated from kaosfroyo 29 to 30, my battery life decreased greatly. And the battery life would remind me that they were running.

As an fyi they would not show up in xtrSENSE as I have set the default min memory free to a level for the ROM as if you are using a strict or higher value in autokiller

what ive noticed through my experience with 2.2 vs. 2.1 roms, froyo manages these apps in the background a lot better than 2.1 does. i used advanced task killer religiously while on 2.1, but noticed that when i switched over to froyo it ran just as smooth, if not more smooth than before. so now i just dont even bother with ATK, and let froyo/autokiller do their thing. im also noticing, even in the absence of ATK, i am getting much better battery life with 2.2 than i did with 2.1.

just my two cents.

EDIT: should have said i was on kaosfroyo. dont have experience on others.
