Remove stock sms?

I just wanted to double check if its ok to remove the stock messaging client as I only use Handcent? I did on my G1 but you never know, measure twice, cut once.

SMS will work , but MMS will not , as Handcent is not a stand alone app for sms and mms .... it depends on the default messaging client to work right ... SO just disable notifications in the default app and you're all set....
