Firmware update?

Got a notification on my phone that a firmware update was available for Droid 2. Anyone know if this safe to install if its rooted via the method at the sticky in this forum? If not, is there a way to disable it from doing it automatically?

any ota will take away root. if that's the old ota, it is RE-rootable. if it's a new one, if you value root, stay away until devs get custom recovery and roms. koush is working on droid 2 clockwork recovery image.

I updated the new firmware before rooting. I was still able to root.
