its possible that the tmobile rom might have locked back up your telus charm. Sometimes motoflash files will lock up the phone to the carrier specific, in this case Tmobile.

I thought this might be a possibility, although from what I've found this is usually not the case. I haven't been asked for a subsidy unlock code, and I have caught a few blips of signal. Might it also be due to the fact that T-Mobile in the US uses the 1700/2100 frequencies, while Telus and Fido use 850/1900? T-Mobile may have set their software to work only on their frequencies?

but the motorola charm is a quad band phone. you should still get signal regardless of 3g bands being different. but it might be a possibility. try lookin for a telus rom.

I'll be getting my Moto Charm this evening. Was quite delighted that that's finally an Android phone with Portrait/front-facing qwerty having been a Treo 680 user for many years. Ordered 1 despite all the bad reviews by user from the limited forums I could find.

I'm surprise that XDA have flipout listed but not Charm. Are there any other forums besides XDA, Androidcentral..?

hands-on with flipout (same screen as charm) today, the screen resolution is worse than 650...

i must admit that the screen resolution is not good and the fonts are really small but the qwerty keypad is good. The wifi gave me random resets but works well after I disable wifi. Overall experience is good, its responsive & have decided to keep the phone.

It will be nice to have keycaps (palm os) running on moto charm & better if the fonts could be resize. Next, I'll be trying out if any call recorder works....

let me know if you find one. : )

i was really tempted to get charm but the low-res screen really turns me away... then the droid pro comes, but it's way too expensive for me...

I'm considering the Charm for my wife who is currently using an old second-hand Blackberry Curve 8310.

She's a recent smartphone convert, so the absence of 3G on AT&T (1 year left on contract) shouldn't matter much. It should be a nice upgrade. WiFi, better camera, CPU and RAM bump will be worth it, even if the screen resolution doesn't seem all that different (2.5in 65K colors Vs. 2.8in 256K colors). And of course Android 2.1 > Blackberry OS 4.5
Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM - ROM: CM10.1 Jellybro nightly (4.2.2) | Recovery: TWRP 2.5.0.0.
Samsung Galaxy SII Attain - ROM: AOKP Jellybean (4.2.2).
Samsung Galaxy S Captivate - ROM: CM10 Jellybro latest nightly.
Motorola MB502 Charm - Stock 2.1 w/root and app2sd.
Nexus One - (backup phone) ROM: VJ v5.0 (4.2.2).
Acer A500 tablet - ICS 3.2 stock, rooted.

I liked this phone and almost bought one off ebay (another story). The main issues with it as I see...

- Low-res screen (even compared to the 650)
- Motorola's locked bootloader and slow (or non) upgrades for MOTOBLUR phones
- Camera (fixed focus and so-so quality)
- Battery life (quite a few complaints)
- Reception (a few complaints)

Make no mistake, if you are not into gaming and you can accept the shortcomings, THIS PHONE IS A STEAL - Cause it has 512MB RAM and that's what it really counts for Android, all other low-end phones have only half of it.

And this little gem has CrystalTalk.
