Turn your antivirus off and make sure all the files were extracted.

I ran the .bat, it said 'press any key to continue' and...nothing. Gave it several minutes. (At least my phone appears normal, if unrooted.)

For my Epic 4G, installed the 32-bit Samsung drivers on WinXP SP3, which took a few connects/disconnects of the cable for all the new "devices" to be recognized with debugging unchecked, then ran the .bat as instructed.

The only unusual thing besides that is my COMODO Security program of course popped up when I ran the .bat, but I allowed it so, is there something I should do besides run it again?

Thanks to all, good to finally participate here.

Just rooted my very first smartphone. Thanks, noobnl. Sent a red bull your way.

Oddly, the first two times the batch file stopped with no feedback (once right after the first pause, once after 'adb shell /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin'). Then I rebooted the phone and tried a third time, and it worked. Weird, but whatever works, I suppose.

I have a question. I used this one click root and my phone seems to be rooted. I can use Titanium backup and flash roms thru clockworks recovery but when I go to adb and type adb shell I still get a $ and cannot get the #. Is there some step I missed in the process. I can use root explorer to remove things and such just cannot get the # in adb.

You have to type 'su' to get root in adb.

Default Need help after rooting

i rooted using exploit v 2.3.0 with superuser.apk and it worked on my epic since i see superuser. the problem i have is that when i download rom manager and install clockworkmod 2.5.1.0 from rom manager for my epic. then i proceed to backup current rom, i give it a name and then reboots my phone to factory recovery and this is what i see:

android system recovery <2e>
samsung recovery utils
-for BML-

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data cache
wipe cache partition

install from package...
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package

E:failed to verify whole file signature
E:signature verification failed
insstallation aborted

can anyone help me backup so I can download new roms afterwards.

Hold down the camera button and the down volume button while turning on your Epic. Let go of the buttons when you see the samsung.com logo. It should then boot into the ClockWorkMod recovery.I would post a link but noobs aren't allowed to do this.
