[Q] [Problem] Car charging on Froyo

I updated from 2.1 to 2.2 recently and my evo doesn't like my car charger any more.

It used to charge without problems. Now after updating, it will charge for a few seconds but then stop charging. I'm not sure if the power output is high enough, but it worked on Eclair. I went from Whitslack 1.47 to Fresh 3.1 and then netarchy's burnt droid. Both froyo roms have the same problem. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a kernel change that fixes the problem? Charging from the wall or from the comp is still fine.

I'm using this charger:

Search of this issue showed people had a problem charging with bluetooth music on 2.1, but nothing identical.

So obviously no one else had this problem. For completeness, this problem was solved when I switched to a more expensive usb cable with gold contacts. It's possible the contact resistance was too high.

Maybe that will help someone down the line.
