I am quite certain that CM6 IS Froyo.

should i root and get cm6 or wait for froyo

This is Froyo, and it's my screenshot.
We had it booting on the Wildfire but the touchscreen wasn't working.
HCDRJacob and DanneJo are working on it I think. It's still far away from a working ROM. :P
