Default AOSP Calendar Files Attached

Those of you that want to get rid of the Touchwiz calendar for the AOSP variety can download these two files.

Just download to your computer and put in the root of your main directory.

connect your device via usb

adb push c:\Calendar.apk /sdcard
adb push c:\CalendarProvider.apk /sdcard

adb shell
su
mount -t rfs -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
busybox cp /sdcard/Calendar.apk /system/app
busybox cp /sdcard/CalendarProvider.apk /system/app
cd /system/app
rm TouchWizCalendarProvider.apk
rm TouchWizCalendar.apk

exit

adb reboot

On reboot they will be there. I did this without any issues. Enjoy.

Hmm. I don't know if I did something wrong but My calendar is completely gone, AOSP, Touchwiz, or otherwize. Would you mind pulling the stock APK& ODEX files and sharing them here for me?

TIA

Am I doing something wrong here. I reflashed my phone back to factory and did this again, step by step copying/pasting what you put and I have no calendar. Hmmm.

Did you reboot?

You have to reboot or the change never loads.

You also may need a deodexed rom something I haven't released yet but will be soon. That would be the only other difference. Maybe ill release it tonight depending on how things go.

All the odex and deodexed apks can be downloaded here

Yes I rebooted every time after I copied it over. I tried it again just copying the files over into the system/app folder without deleting hte TouchWiz calendar and it still would not show up.

Must be the deodexed framework then. I should have the rom finished tonight depending on how things go.

Yeah same problem here with the calendar not showing up. Root Explorer shows Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk are both in /system/app like they should be, but they don't appear in the list of apps and when I try to install them they don't install either.

Now downloading the Megaupload file of the original apps so I can get a calendar of some kind. The only thing I really hate about the Samsung calendar is that it defaults to a locally stored "My Calendar" that doesn't sync with anything and is completely useless. And you can't delete My Calendar or even make it not the default, you can only hide it. Stupid stupid stupid, but at least you can work around it.

EDIT: Wait, could this work if I had the Calendar.odex and CalendarProvider.odex files? I'm not running a custom rom so I think I need the odex files. Not sure though, the whole thing is a bit confusing to me.

I installed your deodex'd ROM and still doesnt work (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783031)

Same issue as before. I boot up, ADB in, SU, remount, copy the Calendar APK's, delete the TouchWiz Calendar APKs, reboot, and no calendar at all in the phone.

Is you recently released ROm compatible with these AOSP APK's?

OK I got it to work. Woot. I used the directions and files here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735035

And it works perfect. I am so happy to have the factory Calendar back and be able to share calendar events via Gmail again. Woot!!!!!!!!

What I cannot help but wonder though, will this work on a non-deodexed rom. ie, Factory ROM with root installed. I defeintely have to isntall this on my wifes phone but I just do not know if I need to flash the deodexed ROM on her phone.

Woot.
