Wireless tether and root
Tonight I rooted a friends phone (I'm a lowly Hero owner, with root running CM6 Froyo!) using the "one click" method posted in this forum. Took a couple tries, but it seemed to work. I installed superuser and wireless tether and both seem to get root access. I also ran the following command from adb to ensure root and it get the following (which I believe means that root is achieved)
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
$ su -c id
su -c id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)
$
Wireless tether loads and successfully gains root access through superuser however, not one of the 3 laptops I have in the house can see the SSID. Under log in wireless tether I can see mention to an unknown device or unsupported device.
How did you get wireless tether to run on the stock OS with root access? Or is there another wireless app I should be using? Barnicle didn't work at all.
