[Q] Rooting Incredible

New to posting, new to rooting...responders beware! =)

I think I rooted my phone the other day with unrevoked3 but the files i have on my pc I didn't use. None of them are zip files like forums/youtube videos were showing people installing.

Unrevoked installed successfully, I saw the black screen with green lettering (boot screen?)...but I had no zip file on my SD card to install. When I search my apps the Superuser Permissions app is there and does notify me when I try to open certain apps, etc.

Haven't been able to install wifi tethering either so it makes me wonder what I'm missing exacxtly.

Any help would be appreciated! Keep it in laymans terms please!

You might want to post in the Incredible forum; rather than in this general forum. But I think you are rooted. There are several different methods out there to root; the youtube videos mostly focused on the early methods that were much more difficult. The Unrevoked 3.21 method does not require installing an update.zip or any of that rigamarole.

What is the error when you try wifi tethering? If you install the version from the Market (Wifi Tether 2.02) you need to add some additional files, or run a custom ROM that adds those files. Later (beta) version of wifi tether (2.09 is the latest) includes those files, so you don't need to worry about adding those extra files.

As I mentioned, you will get a better response to an Incredible-related question in the incredible forums ...

The green and black screen is ur recovery screen. Your rooted. You need the tethering app to tether.

Thanks...there isn't an error message...it just doesn't connect. Where do I find the files I need and how do I add them to my phone?

The market. Also diffirent kernels use diffrent versions of tether. Start reading the threads. Great way to learn. Good luck!

All I really want to do is tether and I've heard I need a kernel for that as well?
